ACL injury management
This common sports related injury is unfortunately becoming more prevalent. Evidence for best management is constantly evolving. Management can be either non-surgical or surgical. Some patients who try non-surgical management go on to have surgical management. Every patient with a damaged ACL is considered individually to see which is the most appropriate management course to take. Factors to consider but not limited to, include the age of the patient, future ambitions, damage to other structures such as meniscus and previous knee injuries. If you have an ACL injury please make an appointment to see one of our SEM Physicians.
Meniscus tear management
Meniscus tears are a common finding on MRI. However often they are just an incidental finding and not the real reason for the patients’ knee pain. Our team’s expertise lie in putting all the pieces together in terms of seeing whether the history of knee injury or pain along with examination findings match what is found on MRI. The majority of meniscal tears do not need surgery.
